We do include FTAs. We have currently implemented 75 Free Trade Agreements.

Here is how the FTAs are implemented:

  • Online calculation and lookup tools: When calculating import duty & taxes, if an FTA applies, you will be prompted to input the country of manufacture and if relevant, the mode of transport. With the calculation results, if applicable, a 0-rated duty will be applied, or a note will be presented explaining that a reduced duty rate may apply. With the HS code and duty rate lookup tools, we continue to display MFN rates.
  • Rapid classification Tool: With the classification results file, you will continue to receive MFN duty rates.
  • API webservices: If you would like to incorporate FTAs into your import duty & taxes calculation results, you will need to activate FTAs by adding the <preferential_rates> field to the calculation API call. Please make sure to include country of manufacture and shipping mode in the calculation API call as well. You can find the updated API documentation here. If you do not want to include FTAs into your API calculation results, no changes are required, FTAs are ignored by default. No other API calls are impacted by FTAs.
